Lifestyle Changes May Be the Only Way to Lose
The resveratrol and soy isoflavones combo appears to be a bust—at least for me. I've been taking the combo since last Friday. I weighed myself this morning, and no weight loss. I've been in a weight loss plateau for about four months now. I haven't really lost anything in that time, and have even gained a few pounds. Actually, the scale goes up and down—sometimes it goes way down and then it goes right back up again. Anyway, this approach doesn't seem to be working. But the CLA isn't doing anything either, and it usually has some effect—even if it's just a pound or two.
So I don't know—my problems may be centered around my being menopausal. But I'm going to keep taking it. I'll let the experiment run a little longer. I'm confused about the CLA having what appears to be no effect. Hmmm.
So the gym was good again today. The scenery was spectacular. The "crush" was looking good today. He look like he may even have lost some weight. Too nice. But how is it that men seem to have far less trouble losing weight than women? It seems like if a guy wants to lose weight all he has to do is cut out a snack or two, exercise a little bit—maybe run a little and lift some weights every once in a while, bat his eyes a couple of times—and then the weight is magically gone? It is so unfair.
OK. It's another busy day. I'll keep checking in with results about the resveratrol and soy isoflavones. Maybe it's just going to take a little longer. But then I'm always wasting my money looking for miracle cures. I think the only thing that really leads to weight loss and physical fitness is true lifestyle change.

I am tying the resveratrol and soy isoflavones combo .it only seems to work on my menopausal symptoms, its the soy I believe that is doing that ,but I also take cla it helped me slim my waist nicely but it took about a month to see results. The resveratrol and soy isoflavones combo might be a joke for weight loss but it doesn't hurt to try new ideas.
I too saw the article in Womans World and will be interested in seeing your progress. Other comments I found on the internet about the isoflavone/resveratrol combo were not very encouraging.
In the meantime I would like to suggest you check out the FREE website www.sparkpeople.com.
It is a wonderful community of millions of people trying to lose weight. It has a meal planner, nutrition tracker, fitness tracker, hundreds of articles, exercise videos and oodles of message boards you can join.
The biggest benefits are the nutrition tracker and the message boards. It is a real eye opener when you actually see what you are consuming and what it does to your body. Everybody helps everybody at this website. It is awesome.
If you do join it, contact me using the sparkmail feature. My user name is momlil3.
soy contains estrogen which increases body fat (I have a nutritionist, and he advised I avoid soy when dieting). If you're on a plateau keep eating those veggies and working out! lol. you'll break through sooner or later!
I've been taking the combo for two weeks now, I did make diet changes as well, but I've lost 19lbs. I've NEVER lost that much weight with just diet alone in two weeks. I also eat soy products, garden burgers, soy milk etc. I'm convinced it's working.
Part of my problem may be that I've been dieting and exercising for so long, it's going to take something not short of a miracle to get me losing again. I've tried so many things, it's getting frustrating.
I have been on the reseveratrol/soy combo for 17 days now along with diet changes but no change in exercise activity. I have lost 12 pounds. Now that may not sound miraculous but I am well over 50 and let me tell you, weight loss is VERY hard after 50.
I am very pleased with the combo. I will be adding CLA soon. These supplements get pricey.
One very important thing I have to pass on about the resveratrol/soy combo: BE SURE that you are getting the amount of each that was recommended in Woman's World. I bought mine first at Walmart and very little effect was seen.
I researched a little more and found that 100mg capsule does not necessarily contain 100mg of Resveratrol as recommended. Same with the soy. Labels can be so deceptive. Sometimes it will say Resveratrol but there is a bunch of other things listed in there, like grape seed extract, etc. Plus it can say something about 50% standardized meaning only 1/2 of the ingredient is actually the active resveratrol or whatever.
Confusing huh? I finally figured that the Walgreens bottle of Resveratrol was all resveratrol and it took 2 caps to equal 100mg of active ingredient. I am not good at explaining this, so all I can say is really research your res/soy that you are going to take and be SURE that you are getting the full 100mg of each that was recommended.
I ordered some in bulk from an online store that was a decent buy, had only Resveratrol in it, and conveniently 100mg in each dose.
Now all that said, I will have to admit, I am taking more than that recommended dose. I can't recommend that to anyone, I just know that at this point, I am willing to take whatever risk there is in order to lose some pounds fast and feel better.
Hi I came across your blog as a girl I know posted it in looking for opinions on trying this supplement diet. I wanted to jump in here and say that honestly having tried diets and "natural weight loss cures" nothing besides an actual healthy lifestyle change is going to get that weight off and keep it off. There are a few good sites out there that you can utilize for free to help you transition into a healthy lifestyle. Google sparkpeople and you will find the most wonderful completely free site. No this is not advertising just a site that has saved me much grief after years of yo yo dieting and gaining everything back plus more.
Plus losing anything more then 1 to 2 pounds per week really isn't healthy for you and it's not maintainable weight loss. always be wary of the so called "miracle" diets. I've been back and forth on the scales for over 10 years now and am finally losing the weight for good, and slowly so that I can keep it off.
Good luck on your weight loss journey, I hope that you are able to make the lifestyle change and keep it off for good.
Awesome post! Have you had a chance to watch 60 Minutes, Fox News, Oprah or Barbra Walters segments last weekend about it?
Basically, it shows promise in mice. For mice, has shown major health improvements including blood sugar control. Keep in mind that 6 out of 10 major drug successes in mice - fail in humans. But the limited human trials showed promise and there are some patients that claim it helps. However, this could be the 'placebo effect,' and only empirical data under controlled experiments can tell for sure. It will take a few years for these clinical trials to conclude.
You can get supplements of the extract right now. While it is safe, it is not guaranteed to work. Before making a decision, you should watch all the videos. Here's the a recap from all the trustworthy shows:

I did some research and learned the following: You can only get 1-2mgs of it in a single bottle of wine. So, white, it's a good excuse to drink wine, but you really won't get much benefit. There are resveratrol supplements on the market - but many do not have the required strength and they don't work for everyone. The only way to know for sure is to try the supplements. Hope you find this interesting... its a future hope for the fountain of youth and treatments (not cures) for countless diseases.
